Privacy Policy
How Our Home Folder, a product of JBran LLC, collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects your information.
JBran LLC, doing business as Our Home Folder (“JBran,” “Our Home Folder,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect Personal Information in connection with the Our Home Folder website available at ourhomefolder.com, our mobile applications, and related products, features, content, communications, and services (collectively, the “Service”).
This Privacy Policy applies to information we process about users of the Service. By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with an identified or identifiable person or household.
1. Information We Collect
We collect Personal Information and other information that is reasonably necessary to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service.
A. Account Information
When you create or use an account, we may collect:
- Your email address.
- Authentication credentials or account-authentication information, as applicable.
- Account preferences, settings, subscription status, and related account-administration information.
We do not receive or store your full payment-card number when payments are processed by Stripe. Payment information is processed by Stripe in accordance with Stripe’s applicable privacy and security practices.
B. Home Record Content
The Service allows you to create, organize, and maintain records relating to your home, residence, property, or other units that you add to the Service. We collect the information that you choose to submit, upload, generate, or store through the Service, including:
- Property and unit information.
- Room, location, and utility information.
- Appliance, tool, equipment, device, smart-home, automation, maintenance, repair, issue, warranty, and receipt records.
- Photographs, documents, notes, descriptions, lists, attachments, and other content you upload or create.
- Information regarding the location of household items, equipment, systems, or documents.
- Compliance-related information that you choose to track through the Service.
We refer to this information collectively as “Home Record Content.”
Home Record Content may be sensitive to you because it can describe the contents, features, layout, systems, or condition of your home. You control the Home Record Content you submit to the Service, subject to the limited uses described in this Privacy Policy.
C. Technical and Security Information
When you access or use the Service, we and our service providers may automatically collect limited technical and operational information, including:
- Internet protocol address.
- Device, browser, operating system, and application information.
- Log information, diagnostic information, error reports, security events, and service-performance information.
- Dates, times, pages, features, and actions associated with use of the Service.
- Information necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, or other security incidents.
We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service. We seek to limit the collection of technical information to what is reasonably necessary for those purposes.
D. Product Usage Information
We maintain first-party product-usage records regarding how users interact with pages, workflows, and features within the Service, including information that may help us understand feature adoption, errors, incomplete workflows, and areas where users encounter difficulty.
We use this information to maintain, evaluate, and improve the Service. We do not sell, rent, or disclose product-usage information to third parties for their independent advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes. We do not combine such information with external advertising profiles or data-broker information.
E. Advertising Interaction Information
If the free version of the Service displays advertisements, we may record limited information about the advertisement displayed and whether it was clicked or otherwise interacted with.
We do not use your Home Record Content to select, target, personalize, or optimize advertisements. We do not provide advertisers with your Home Record Content, uploaded files, email address, or information that directly identifies you. We do not permit advertisers to use information obtained through the Service to recognize you across unrelated websites or services.
F. Push-Notification Information
If you enable reminders or push notifications through our iPhone or iPad application, we may collect and store the device token issued by Apple that is necessary to deliver notifications to that device.
You may disable push notifications through your device settings or through available settings in the Service. When push notifications are disabled, we will stop using the associated device token to send notifications and will delete or deactivate the token within a commercially reasonable period, subject to limited retention in system backups or as required by law.
G. Demo-Mode Local Storage
If you use the Service in signed-out demo mode, certain information may be stored locally in your browser’s local-storage environment. Demo-mode information remains on your device and is not transmitted to us unless and until you take an action that expressly causes it to be submitted to the Service, such as creating an account, signing in, or otherwise saving or uploading the information to our systems.
2. Information You Should Not Submit
The Service is designed to help you document references to important information, including where a credential or secret may be stored. It is not designed to store passwords, access codes, or other authentication secrets in plain text.
Please do not submit or store in the Service:
- Passwords or password-manager master passwords.
- Wi-Fi passwords.
- Alarm, door, garage, lockbox, or security-system codes.
- PINs, account-recovery codes, private keys, or similar credentials.
- Full financial-account numbers, payment-card information, or government-issued identification numbers.
- Any other information that could create a material security risk if accessed by an unauthorized person.
You are responsible for the information that you choose to submit to the Service. Where possible, use a reference to the location of sensitive information — for example, the name of a password-manager entry — rather than entering the sensitive information itself.
Shared Reports and Exports
Certain Service features may generate printable, downloadable, or shareable reports, including service-call sheets or handover materials intended for contractors, technicians, insurers, property managers, or other recipients. We may use automated screening designed to identify and omit common secret-related phrases from certain shared reports and uploaded file names.
Automated screening may not identify every sensitive item, and it is not a substitute for your review. You are responsible for reviewing shared materials before providing them to another person.
Your full account export is intended to provide a complete copy of your Home Record Content and therefore may include information that would be omitted from a limited-purpose shared report. Account exports are not automatically redacted. You should treat an export as sensitive information and share it only with people you trust.
3. How We Use Information
We may use Personal Information and other information for the following purposes:
- To provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To create, administer, authenticate, and secure your account.
- To store, organize, display, and make available the Home Record Content that you choose to submit.
- To enable sharing, handover, reporting, download, export, and other features that you initiate or authorize.
- To deliver reminders, notifications, and communications that you request or enable.
- To respond to questions, feedback, support requests, and other communications from you.
- To monitor, prevent, investigate, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, technical problems, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To understand usage of the Service and improve features, usability, performance, and reliability.
- To generate maintenance, parts, warranty, service, or other suggestions related to information you enter, if you elect to receive those suggestions.
- To display and measure advertising in the free version of the Service, without using Home Record Content to select or target advertisements.
- To comply with applicable law, legal process, and enforceable governmental requests.
- To establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, protect the safety and security of our users and the public, and enforce our rights and agreements.
We do not sell or rent your Personal Information.
We do not use Home Record Content to build advertising profiles, target advertisements, or permit advertisers to target you based on the contents of your home records.
Suggestions generated from your Home Record Content are produced by or for us using your information solely to provide the requested Service functionality. Your Home Record Content is not disclosed to advertisers for purposes of producing or selecting those suggestions.
4. Legal Bases for Processing
If privacy laws that require a legal basis for processing apply to our processing of your Personal Information, we process Personal Information on one or more of the following bases:
- Performance of a contract, including to provide the Service and fulfill our obligations under our Terms of Service.
- Our legitimate interests, including operating, securing, improving, and supporting the Service, provided that those interests are not overridden by your applicable privacy rights.
- Your consent, where required by law or where we ask for it, including for optional features or communications.
- Compliance with legal obligations.
- Protection of vital interests, where necessary to protect the safety of a person.
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before the withdrawal.
5. How We Disclose Information
We disclose Personal Information only as described in this Privacy Policy or with your direction or consent.
A. At Your Direction
We may disclose Home Record Content or other information when you direct us to do so, including when you:
- Use a sharing, handover, report-generation, download, or export feature.
- Send or provide a report, document, or other content to a contractor, technician, insurer, property manager, family member, purchaser, or other recipient.
- Explicitly grant another person access to a property, unit, record, or other content through the Service.
You are responsible for determining whether and with whom to share your information.
B. Service Providers
We use service providers to help us operate the Service. These providers may process Personal Information only on our behalf and for the purposes of providing services to us, subject to contractual or other appropriate obligations.
Our service providers may include:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Managed database hosting, authentication services, and private file storage |
| Cloudflare | Website delivery, network performance, and security services |
| Sentry | Diagnostic, error-monitoring, and service-performance reporting |
| Stripe | Payment processing for payments made through our website |
| Resend | Delivery of reminder emails and other email communications you choose to receive |
| Apple | Delivery of push notifications if you enable them on an Apple device |
| Anthropic | Optional AI-assisted reading of appliance or equipment data-plate photographs, as described below |
We may add, replace, or remove service providers as our operations change. If we begin using a service provider in a manner that materially changes how we handle Personal Information, we will update this Privacy Policy as required by applicable law.
C. Optional Data-Plate Scanning
The Service may offer an optional feature that allows you to scan a photograph of an appliance or equipment data plate. If you elect to use that feature, the photograph is transmitted to Anthropic’s AI service to identify information on the label, such as a manufacturer, brand, model number, or serial number.
Use of this feature is optional. You may instead enter the relevant information manually.
We use the data-plate image for the limited purpose of providing the scan result you request. Under our applicable arrangement with Anthropic, data submitted through this feature is not used to train Anthropic’s AI models. We encourage you to review images before submitting them and avoid including unnecessary sensitive information.
D. Legal, Safety, and Enforcement Disclosures
We may disclose information if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with applicable law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process.
- Respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
- Protect the rights, property, security, or safety of JBran, the Service, our users, or others.
- Detect, investigate, prevent, or address fraud, security incidents, abuse, or technical issues.
- Enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements.
- Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
E. Business Transfers
We may disclose or transfer information in connection with a proposed or completed merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or other corporate transaction. If such a transaction occurs, we will use reasonable efforts to require the recipient to handle Personal Information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise permitted or required by law.
6. Advertising
The free version of the Service may display advertisements.
We do not provide advertisers with your Home Record Content, email address, uploaded files, or information that directly identifies you. Advertisers may not use Home Record Content to select advertisements or target you through the Service.
We do not sell Personal Information. We do not share Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as that term is defined under applicable California law.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site tracking technologies, or advertising identifiers to follow you across unrelated websites or services. If our advertising practices materially change, including if an advertising provider would receive Personal Information or information that could identify or recognize you elsewhere, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices, choices, or consent required by applicable law before implementing the change.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect Personal Information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure.
The Service uses Supabase for managed PostgreSQL database services, authentication, and private file storage. Information is encrypted in transit using industry-standard transport encryption and is encrypted at rest by our applicable infrastructure providers.
We use access-control measures, including database row-level security, designed to limit access to property and record information to the account holder and to users with whom the account holder has expressly chosen to share access. Uploaded files are maintained in private storage and are intended to be accessed through time-limited, access-controlled links rather than publicly available file URLs.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the Service at your own risk.
If we determine that a security incident has affected your Personal Information, we will investigate and respond in accordance with applicable law. Where required, we will notify affected individuals and applicable authorities without undue delay and within the time periods required by law.
8. International Data Transfers
The Service is operated from and uses service providers located in the United States. Your Personal Information may be collected, stored, processed, and transferred in the United States and other jurisdictions where we or our service providers operate.
If you access or use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of Personal Information, which may include Standard Contractual Clauses or other recognized transfer mechanisms.
9. Data Retention
We retain Personal Information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain your account, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the security and integrity of the Service.
If you delete a record or delete your account, we will delete or de-identify the associated information from active systems within a commercially reasonable period, except to the extent that retention is necessary or permitted for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, enforcement of our agreements, or other legitimate business purposes.
Residual copies of deleted information may remain in backup systems for a limited period — up to 7 days — and will be deleted or overwritten according to our backup-retention schedule.
10. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:
- Confirm whether we process your Personal Information.
- Access Personal Information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate Personal Information.
- Delete Personal Information.
- Obtain a portable copy of certain Personal Information.
- Restrict or object to certain processing of Personal Information.
- Withdraw consent where our processing is based on consent.
- Opt out of the sale of Personal Information, targeted advertising, or certain profiling activities, if applicable.
- Appeal our decision regarding a privacy-rights request.
You may access, correct, export, or delete certain information directly through your account settings at ourhomefolder.com/settings.
You may disable Home Record Content-based suggestions at any time through Account Settings. Disabling suggestions does not otherwise change your account, records, subscription, or use of the Service.
To submit a privacy-rights request that you cannot complete through the Service, email us at privacy@ourhomefolder.com with the subject line “Privacy Rights Request.” Please identify the request you are making and the email address associated with your account.
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision notice or emailing privacy@ourhomefolder.com with the subject line “Privacy Rights Appeal.” We will respond to appeals as required by applicable law.
11. Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies that are necessary for the operation, security, and measurement of the Service.
These technologies may include:
- Authentication-session information necessary to keep you signed in.
- First-party identifiers used to measure visits, feature use, errors, and incomplete workflows within the Service.
- Browser local storage used in signed-out demo mode.
Our first-party measurement identifiers are used only within the Service and are not shared with third parties for their independent advertising or cross-site tracking purposes.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies to follow you across unrelated websites or services. Any advertisements displayed in the Service are not intended to follow you to other websites.
You can control cookies and local storage through your browser or device settings. Disabling certain technologies may affect the functionality, security, or availability of the Service.
12. Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for adults. Our Terms of Service require account holders to be at least 18 years old.
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided Personal Information to us, please contact us at privacy@ourhomefolder.com. We will take reasonable steps to delete that information as required by applicable law.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Service, applicable law, or other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.
When we update this Privacy Policy, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above. If we make a material change, we will provide notice as required by applicable law, which may include notice through the Service, by email, or by another reasonable method.
If a proposed change would materially expand our use of Home Record Content beyond the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, we will provide advance notice and, where required by law or our stated practices, obtain your consent before applying that new use to your existing Home Record Content.
